Vehicle valuation: which details and documents really count
A reliable assessment is not a matter of gut feeling but of the information available.
The basic details
Without these details every valuation remains a rough estimate.
- Make, model and exact version
- Date of first registration
- Current mileage
- Transmission and fuel type
- Equipment and optional extras
Condition and history
Service history, accident free status, tyre condition and the number of previous owners influence the market value considerably. Openly communicated defects do not lead to a worse result, but to a realistic assessment that holds up later.
Photographs that help
Meaningful images do not replace a viewing, but they are what makes an initial assessment possible in the first place.
- All four sides of the vehicle in daylight
- Interior, seats and cockpit including the odometer
- Engine bay and tyres
- Known damage or signs of use in detail
- The vehicle registration document, clearly legible
What happens next
